Nifty is a project management workspace: tasks, milestones, docs, team chat and client portals in one place. Its two-factor authentication (2FA) is a personal setting on your own profile, not a workspace switch, and it comes with every plan. The pricing page lists Two-Factor Authentication even on the Free plan (Nifty). The only method Nifty documents is an authenticator app on your phone, and its help names Google Authenticator, Duo, Authy and Okta as examples (Nifty). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Nifty steps come from Nifty's own help center and website, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. Nifty's 2FA article was last updated in February 2022. We haven't tested the steps on a Nifty account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Before you start

Nifty's help article says nothing about backup or recovery codes, and it doesn't describe a second method such as text messages. If that's still true when you set it up, your phone is the only way past the code prompt. Read the section on losing your authenticator below before you turn 2FA on.

The setup also asks for your Nifty password. If you don't remember it, Nifty's article says to reset it first with the forgotten-password link on the sign-in page at niftypm.com (Nifty).

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

These are the steps from Nifty's help article (Nifty):

  1. Open the dropdown menu and go to Profile Settings.
  2. Choose Security on your profile page.
  3. Select the Enable Two Factor Authentication button.
  4. Enter your Nifty password.
  5. Nifty shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. Nifty also shows an alphanumeric code that you can type instead. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually. Type Nifty as the Service, your email as the Account if you like, and the code as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  7. Type the 6-digit code that Novaz shows for Nifty, then continue.

Nifty then confirms that two-factor authentication is on. Its help doesn't say how often the codes change, only that they refresh on their own. Scanning the QR code is the safer choice, because it passes the code settings to your app. A key typed by hand in Novaz always gives 6-digit codes that change every 30 seconds.

When Nifty asks for a code

Nifty's article only says to keep your phone nearby whenever you sign in from now on (Nifty). It doesn't mention trusted devices or a "remember me" option, and it doesn't say whether Google or Microsoft sign-in skips the code. Nifty's Google sign-in article doesn't mention 2FA either (Nifty).

If Nifty rejects your code

The article's only advice is about timing: if the code runs out before you finish typing it, wait for the next one. If fresh codes still fail, check your iPhone's clock. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Nifty doesn't describe a way to move 2FA to a new phone. The documented route is to turn it off and on again: disable it with a code from the old phone, then enable it again and scan the new QR code with the new phone. Do this while you still have the old phone. If you've turned on iCloud backup in Novaz or saved a backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone and skip this. Without a backup, each account has to be set up again. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Nifty's help pages don't explain what to do if you lose the phone with your codes. They mention no backup codes, no recovery process and no proof of identity. The 2FA article ends with a link to message Nifty's team. The Nifty website lists team@niftypm.com as its contact for security questions (Nifty). Neither page says whether support can turn off 2FA for you or how long that would take. Write from the email address on your Nifty account.

See Lost the phone with your authenticator app? for steps that apply to any service.

Turning 2FA off

Go back to the Two Factor Authentication section of Profile Settings and select Disable. Nifty asks for your password and a current code from your authenticator app (Nifty). After that you can remove Nifty from Novaz: open the account and tap Remove account.
