Register365 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app
By the Novaz team · Updated October 29, 2026
Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
Register365 is an Irish domain registrar and web host, part of team.blue (Register365). Your account opens the Online Control Panel, where you manage domains, hosting and billing. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional and covers sign-in to that Control Panel. Register365's help describes one method: a code from an authenticator app (Register365).
Two things stand out: the setup page shows the secret key only once, and the help mentions no backup codes. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Register365 steps come from Register365's own Support Centre articles, linked below, which we read on October 24, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Register365 account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Before you start
You need to be the main account holder to set this up (Register365). You sign in from the login link on register365.com with your Account Reference Number or the email address on the account, then choose Control Panel (Register365).
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Register365 has two articles with this title, from 2021 and 2024. These steps follow the newer one, with extra details from the older (Register365, Register365):
- In the Control Panel, hover over the Account tab and choose Two Factor Authentication from the menu. The 2021 article spells it Two-Factor Authentication.
- Select Setup Authentication. The older article says a toggle at the top right does the same.
- Register365 shows a QR code with the secret key printed under it. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code. If the page is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Before you leave this page, copy the secret key and store it somewhere safe. If you'd rather type the key than scan, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz, fill in Service (for example, Register365) and paste the key as the Setup key. If Novaz won't accept it, scan the QR code instead. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Type the six-digit code from Novaz into the Verification Code box, with no spaces or punctuation, and select Enable Authentication.
The older article describes a screen after this with two options: Disable Location Restrictions and Manage Location Restrictions. The next section explains what they mean.
The country lock and 2FA
By default, Register365 only lets the Control Panel be opened from the account holder's country of residence (Register365). Once 2FA is on, you can turn that restriction off, so you can sign in from any country or IP address for as long as 2FA stays on.
If you keep the restriction, a correct password and a correct code still won't get you in from a country you haven't allowed (Register365). To allow a country or IP address later, go to Account > Security Settings and find Location Restrictions (Register365).
When Register365 asks for a code
After setup, the Control Panel asks for a code from your app every time you sign in (Register365). The help doesn't mention remembered devices.
No backup codes, so keep the key
Register365's help doesn't mention backup or recovery codes. What it does say is that reinstalling your app won't bring the account back, because the QR code is gone by then. Its advice is to note the secret key, which you can type into any later app to link it to your account again (Register365).
With Novaz, that saved key is worth keeping even if you also turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file, since without a Novaz backup the keys exist only on your iPhone. Keep the key somewhere private, such as a password manager.
If Register365 rejects your code
Register365's only advice is to type just the six digits, with no spaces or punctuation. If that's not the problem, check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns when it's 15 seconds or more off. A country block can also stop you even when the code is right. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
If you keep a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, restore it on the new iPhone and Register365 comes across with your other accounts. If you saved the secret key during setup, you can also add it to Novaz on the new iPhone with Enter key manually. Either way, check it works before you wipe the old phone. Without a backup or the key, contact support. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
If you saved the secret key, add it to an authenticator app again and sign in as usual. If not, Register365 says you can't sign in to the Control Panel without its support team stepping in (Register365). Its newer article says to raise a support request or call 01 5255768 (Register365). Without access to the Control Panel, phoning is the practical route. Phone support runs Monday to Friday, 8am to 5:30pm (Register365).
The help pages don't say what proof support asks for or how long a reset takes. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
Register365's help doesn't describe how to turn 2FA off. If you need to, ask support. The help only says that a lifted country lock lasts for as long as 2FA stays on.
