Your Parallels account is the one you sign in to at My Account (my.parallels.com), where your Parallels Desktop licenses and subscriptions live, along with any company business account (Parallels). Parallels calls its 2FA two-step verification. It's optional, and you pick one of two methods: an approval link sent by email, or a one-time code from an authenticator app (Parallels). This guide covers the app method with Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Parallels steps come from Parallels' own Knowledge Base articles, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Parallels account, so a label may differ slightly. Parallels' main two-step article was last reviewed in March 2023, so screens may have changed. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Email or app: what each method does

Signing in becomes two steps. The first is your password, or Apple, Google or Facebook. The second follows either one, and depends on the method you pick (Parallels).

  • Email: a new browser or device triggers an email with a link to approve it, once per browser or device (Parallels).
  • Authenticator app: you type a code from the app. Parallels doesn't say whether familiar browsers skip this.

Parallels names Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator as examples, without ruling out other apps.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

Parallels' steps (Parallels):

  1. Sign in to My Account at my.parallels.com in a web browser, ideally on a computer.
  2. Go to the Security Settings page: my.parallels.com/profile/personal/security.
  3. In the Two-Step Verification box, set Two-Step Verification to Enabled.
  4. Set Preferred Method to Authenticator app.
  5. Parallels then has you register your app; its article doesn't show this screen. If you see a QR code, open Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code. If the code is on your iPhone's own screen, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. If you're given a text key instead, tap +, then Enter key manually. Put Parallels in Service and the key in Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  7. Type the current code from Novaz to confirm.

Parallels doesn't give its code length or interval. If both a QR code and a key are offered, scan the QR code: it carries those settings, while a typed key always gets 6 digits every 30 seconds in Novaz.

Only Parallels' 2023 articles for Awingu customers moving to My Account describe the end of setup. There, you choose Verify and Continue, save your one-time rescue codes, and choose OK (Parallels, Parallels). The Security Settings page may word this differently.

Keep the rescue codes

Parallels' main two-step article doesn't mention rescue codes, and the Awingu articles don't say how many you get, where you enter one, or whether you can make a new set.

Unless you've made a Novaz backup, its keys exist only on your iPhone, so the rescue codes are your way back in if it's lost. Store them in a password manager or on paper, away from that phone. More in 2FA backup codes.

If Parallels rejects your code

Parallels' My Account articles don't cover a rejected code. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Many authenticator articles in Parallels' Knowledge Base are about Parallels RAS and Parallels Secure Workspace, where a company's admin runs and resets sign-in codes for remote apps (Parallels). They don't apply to your Parallels account.

New phone, or turning it off

Parallels documents neither; the setting is a drop-down on the Security Settings page. Make any change while your current phone still gives you codes. If you use Novaz's iCloud backup or keep a backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone; without one, a new phone means adding Parallels again. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Your rescue codes are meant for this, although Parallels doesn't describe where you type one. It doesn't document any other way to reset two-step verification.

If you can't get in, Parallels' sign-in troubleshooting article lists Customer Care on Facebook Messenger and X (Parallels). The Support Portal itself requires signing in (Parallels). Parallels doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long it takes. See Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Business accounts with SSO

Business-account admins whose company links My Account to an identity provider such as Okta sign in with Continue with SSO (Parallels). That article doesn't mention two-step verification, so ask your IT team.
