Putler 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
Putler is an analytics dashboard that pulls in sales and customer data from stores and payment processors such as PayPal, Stripe and Shopify, so your account shows a whole business's revenue. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional, but Putler's security page says it "strongly recommended enabling it" for every user (Putler).
Putler's 2FA is built on time-based codes (TOTP) from an authenticator app. Its help doesn't describe text-message or email codes as a second step. The part that sets Putler apart is the safety net: instead of backup codes, it asks you to answer two security questions, which its support team uses to reset 2FA if you lose your phone. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Putler steps come from Putler's own documentation, including the screenshots on its 2FA page, linked below, which we read on October 24, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Putler account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Putler's documentation, last updated October 20, 2026, describes these steps (Putler):
- Sign in to Putler on the web and open Profile > Settings > Security.
- In the 2 Factor Authentication section, turn on the slider next to Enable 2 factor authentication.
- Putler opens Set Up an Authenticator App and shows a QR code under Scan this QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen.
- If you're using Putler in Safari on the same iPhone, take a screenshot of the QR code, then in Novaz tap + and Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Under Enter your Authentication Code, type the 6-digit code Novaz shows for Putler, then click Verify & Continue.
- Answer the two security questions on the next screen. In Putler's screenshot they ask for a childhood nickname and a best friend's name.
- Click Enable two-factor authentication to finish.
Putler's page and screenshots don't show a text key or any other option next to the QR code. If you can't scan it, Putler's help doesn't offer another way, so plan to scan from a second screen or use the screenshot method above.
Your security answers are the backup
Putler's documentation doesn't mention backup or recovery codes. What it gives you instead is the pair of security questions. The setup screen explains that these answers help reset your 2FA settings, and tells you to contact Putler Support if you lose your device or your authenticator app stops working (Putler).
Treat those answers like a password. Write down exactly what you typed, including spelling and capitals, and keep it somewhere other than your phone, such as a password manager. A truthful answer about a friend's name is often easy for others to find, so a made-up answer you've saved is safer. Putler doesn't say whether you can change the answers later. If you lose the phone and have no Novaz backup, your saved answers and Putler Support are the way back in.
Signing in afterwards
Putler's steps for signing in with 2FA are short (Putler):
- Go to the Putler sign-in page at web.putler.com and enter your username and password.
- Enter the 6-digit code from Novaz and click Verify.
Putler's page describes the app code as part of signing in each time. It doesn't mention any way to remember a device or trust a browser.
If Putler rejects your code
Putler's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The most common cause is a phone clock that has drifted: on iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More fixes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
Putler doesn't document a way to move 2FA to a new phone. Its page does say you can turn 2FA on or off at any time (Putler), so the practical route is to do this while you still have the old phone: turn the slider off under Settings > Security, then turn it on again and scan the new QR code with your new iPhone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore it on the new iPhone instead. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
Contact Putler Support. That's the route Putler names on the setup screen for a lost device or a broken authenticator app, and the security answers you gave are what it uses to reset your 2FA (Putler). You can reach Putler through the form on its Contact Us page, which lists hours of operation as Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm (UTC +5.5).
Beyond the security answers, Putler doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long a reset takes. More general advice is in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
Putler says you can disable 2FA whenever you like. The setting is the same slider under Profile > Settings > Security that you used to turn it on (Putler). Its help doesn't say whether it asks for a code first. After you turn it off, open the Putler entry in Novaz and tap Remove account.
