RepairShopr 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5

RepairShopr is ticketing, invoicing and point-of-sale software for repair shops, so a staff login reaches customer records and payments. RepairShopr calls its two-factor sign-in multi-factor authentication (MFA). The second factor is a code from an authenticator app or a hardware security key, with recovery codes and a text-message code as backups (RepairShopr). Each user turns it on for their own login, and a global admin can make it mandatory for the whole company. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the RepairShopr steps come from RepairShopr's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 22, 2026. The help center is hosted on UserVoice, at repair.uservoice.com. We haven't tested the steps on a RepairShopr account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
RepairShopr's help article describes this flow (RepairShopr):
- Sign in to RepairShopr. In the upper right, click your name, then Profile/Password.
- Scroll down, click Enable Multi-factor authentication, and click OK to confirm.
- On the MFA screen, click Setup MFA and Access Your Account. The wizard explains how to install an authenticator app; skip that part if you already have Novaz.
- RepairShopr shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If RepairShopr is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the code from Novaz into the Code field and click Enable Multi-factor Authentication.
- If RepairShopr asks for a code again, check Novaz in case the code has changed, type the current one, and click Verify.
- Click Download Recovery Codes, store the file somewhere safe, then click Next.
- Add a phone for recovery: type your mobile number, click Confirm Recovery Mobile, enter the code RepairShopr texts you, and click Confirm.
The article only describes scanning. It doesn't say whether RepairShopr also shows a text key, or how many digits its codes have. If you find a key, Novaz takes it under + > Enter key manually, but scanning is safer because the QR code carries the code settings. See What is a 2FA setup key?
Recovery codes and the recovery phone
RepairShopr lists two backups: offline recovery codes and a code sent by text to your recovery mobile (RepairShopr). With Novaz, they matter more if you haven't made a backup (iCloud backup or a backup file), because then the keys exist only on your iPhone. Keep the recovery file off that phone, for example in a password manager or printed. The help pages don't say how many codes you get or how to make new ones. More in 2FA backup codes.
When RepairShopr asks for a code
You won't type a code on every page. By default, RepairShopr asks again every 30 days on each device and browser. A global admin can shorten that to as little as one hour under Admin > Employees - Preferences, in the MFA Time Setting menu (RepairShopr). The separate Login Settings article places that menu under Admin > Employees - Login Settings (RepairShopr), so the label may differ on your account.
The two articles also differ on what triggers the prompt. The MFA article says the time limit is checked on every request, even in an open tab. The Login Settings article says a new code is needed only after you sign out or close the tab.
If your shop signs in through single sign-on with Okta, Google or Microsoft Entra, RepairShopr's MFA still applies on top, so you'll still need a code from Novaz when a new session starts (RepairShopr).
Required for the whole team
A global admin can require MFA for every user: Admin > App Center, click Multi-factor Authentication on the MFA card, tick Require all users on account to setup Multi-factor Authentication, and click Save. RepairShopr warns that users are pushed into the setup wizard right away, so pick a time when everyone has their phone (RepairShopr). The same page shows who has set it up.
If RepairShopr rejects your code
When RepairShopr keeps showing Attempt Failed, its help suggests making sure you're reading the right entry in the right app, then checking the phone's time. It says even a one- or two-minute error can break codes, and suggests powering the phone fully off and back on and checking the time zone (RepairShopr). On iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?
If you lose your authenticator
Start with a recovery code or the text code to your recovery mobile. If neither works, the documented route is another admin on your RepairShopr account. They open Admin > Users, go to your user's details, click Change Password, enter their own password, and click Disable Multi-factor authentication at the bottom of the page (RepairShopr). You can then set it up again on your current phone.
The help pages don't describe what happens if the locked-out person is the only admin, what proof RepairShopr asks for, or how long it takes. The RepairShopr website lists help@repairshopr.com as its support address. See Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Changing phones
RepairShopr doesn't document moving MFA to a new phone. With Novaz, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone from an iCloud backup or a backup file. Without one, the admin reset above is the documented way to start fresh. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
