Recruitee is now called Tellent Recruitee. It's the applicant tracking system recruiters and hiring teams use for jobs, candidates and careers sites. Your user account signs in through Tellent, so the two-factor authentication (2FA) you turn on there applies whenever you sign in to any of Tellent's platforms (Tellent Recruitee). It's optional, and you set it up for your own user, not for the whole company.

There are two methods: a text message (SMS) or an authentication app (TOTP). Tellent recommends turning on both, so one can back up the other. This guide sets up the app with Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Tellent Recruitee steps come from Tellent Recruitee's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Tellent Recruitee account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

The 2FA article, last updated August 14, 2026, gives these steps (Tellent Recruitee):

  1. Click your profile picture and choose Profile Settings, then Security.
  2. Next to Authentication app (TOTP), click Activate.
  3. Click Continue on the screen that asks you to install an authentication app.
  4. Tellent shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If the QR code is on your iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  5. If you can't scan it, Tellent also shows a key. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, type a name such as Tellent as the Service, and paste the key as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  6. Type the 6-digit code from Novaz and click Set up now.

Tellent says its codes renew every 30 seconds, which matches what Novaz uses for a typed key.

A newer page about your user profile, from September 2026, reaches the same place another way: Settings > My account > Profile, then Security settings, where you manage your password and 2FA (Tellent Recruitee). If the menu doesn't match the steps above, try that route.

Add text messages as a backup

Tellent's help doesn't mention backup or recovery codes. Its suggested safety net is a second method: turn on Text message (SMS) as well, from the same Security screen. You pick your area code, enter the number, click Continue, and confirm with the texted code and Set up now.

Text messages are only supported in the US, Canada and a list of European countries. Elsewhere SMS may work, but Tellent doesn't promise it will keep working. Unless you back up Novaz, its keys live only on your iPhone, so the SMS method is worth adding if your country is on the list. For the trade-offs, see authenticator app vs. SMS.

When Tellent asks for a code

After you turn on 2FA, Tellent asks for a code each time you sign in, after your email and password. The help doesn't mention a way to trust a device and skip the code.

If your company uses single sign-on (SSO), you sign in through its identity provider, and your password is managed there (Tellent Recruitee). The 2FA article doesn't say how Tellent's own 2FA works alongside SSO, so ask your IT team which one applies to you.

Company admins can see who has 2FA on: the Team members list has a 2FA column.

If Tellent rejects your code

Tellent's help doesn't cover rejected codes. Check your iPhone's clock first: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Tellent doesn't describe moving the app to a new phone. What its help does describe is turning a method off and on again, so do that while you still have the old phone: disable Authentication app (TOTP), then activate it again and scan the new QR code with the new iPhone. With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can skip this and restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

If you also set up text messages, use those to sign in, then set up the app again. Otherwise, use Tellent's recovery form (Tellent Recruitee):

  1. Sign in with your email and password. If you don't remember the password, use Forgot your password first.
  2. On the 2FA screen, click recover access.
  3. Fill in the required details and submit the request.

Tellent says recovery may take up to 72 hours. The help doesn't list what details the form asks for. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

In Profile Settings > Security, click the three dots next to the method and choose Disable. Enter your password, click Continue, then Deactivate 2FA to confirm.

If you're handing your user account to a colleague by changing its details, Tellent asks you to disable 2FA before the transfer. The new owner can turn it on again afterwards (Tellent Recruitee).
