Unleashed is cloud inventory software for stock, purchasing, sales orders and production. The second step at sign-in is not optional. Unleashed calls it 2-Step Authentication (2SA), and its help center says every user must set it up (Unleashed). Its help describes no text-message option: you use an authenticator app, with an alternative email address as the fallback. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Unleashed steps come from Unleashed's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. Old support.unleashedsoftware.com links now redirect there, to a theaccessgroup.com address (Unleashed is part of The Access Group). We haven't tested the steps on an Unleashed account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Before you start

Unleashed starts the setup on its own, right after you first set your email and password, so you won't find a switch to turn it on. Have these ready (Unleashed):

  • your Unleashed email address and password;
  • your iPhone with Novaz installed;
  • a second email address that isn't your login address. It can't contain a plus sign (+).

Choose the second address carefully. You can't change it later without having 2SA reset and set up again.

Set up 2SA with an authenticator app

The steps below follow Unleashed's 2-Step Authentication article (Unleashed):

  1. Sign in to Unleashed. The 2SA setup screen appears with a QR code.
  2. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code. If Unleashed is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  3. If you can't scan it, click enter your key manually in Unleashed to see the key. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, type a name such as Unleashed in Service, and paste the key into Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  4. Type the 6-digit code from Novaz into Unleashed.
  5. Enter your alternative email address and click Send Verification Code.
  6. Open that inbox and type the code Unleashed sent. It's valid for 15 minutes.
  7. Click Got It to finish.

Unleashed says app codes are "typically valid for 30-60 seconds" (Unleashed) without naming an exact interval. Scan the QR code if you can, because it carries the code settings, while a typed key always gives 30-second codes in Novaz. To check, tap the account in Novaz and look at Interval under Details.

Unleashed suggests signing out and back in once to test the setup.

Signing in afterwards

Each sign-in is your email and password, then the current code from Novaz. On a device you trust, tick Remember me for 30 days and Unleashed won't ask again on that browser for 30 days. If your browser clears cookies, it forgets the device and asks more often.

If you have access to several Unleashed accounts, one 2SA setup covers all of them (Unleashed).

No backup codes: the alternative email is the backup

Unleashed's help doesn't mention backup or recovery codes. Your alternative email does that job. On the code screen, choose Lost your mobile device? and Unleashed sends a 6-digit code to that address. Unleashed also offers the email code after three wrong attempts. Keep that inbox working and make sure Unleashed's emails don't land in spam. This matters with Novaz, whose keys stay only on your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file.

If Unleashed rejects your code

The error reads Your authentication information is incorrect. Unleashed's help points first to the device's clock (Unleashed). On iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off.

If that doesn't help, Unleashed's troubleshooting article goes through these steps in order:

  1. Sign in with Lost your mobile device? and the emailed code.
  2. Ask your Account Owner to reset your 2SA.
  3. If it still fails, remove the old Unleashed entry from your app (in Novaz, open it and tap Remove account) and have 2SA reset again.

More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Lost phone or new phone

Both go through your company's Account Owner, not Unleashed Support. The Account Owner opens Settings > System > Users, hovers over the action cog on your row, and picks Reset 2SA. The next time you sign in, Unleashed asks you to set it up again (Unleashed). The same article's FAQ gives the path as Settings > Security > Users, so the menu may differ.

Until the reset, you can still get in with the code sent to your alternative email. With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on a new iPhone and skip the reset. Without one, a new phone means a reset and a fresh setup. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone and Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Unleashed's help doesn't describe a way for a user to turn 2SA off, which fits with it being required.

Access Evo has its own 2FA

Unleashed accounts are moving to Access Evo, The Access Group's single sign-on workspace. Access Evo has a separate, optional two-factor setting under My Account > Two-factor authentication, with an Authenticator App option among others. Unleashed's help is clear that it doesn't replace 2SA: with both on, you pass Access Evo's check and then Unleashed's (Unleashed, Unleashed). If you add both to Novaz, name them clearly.
