Bitget 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app
By the Novaz team · Updated October 29, 2026
Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
Bitget, the crypto exchange, labels its authenticator option "Google Authenticator", but you don't need Google's app. Bitget's FAQ accepts other one-time-password apps from "highly reliable developers" (Bitget). The other two-factor methods are text messages and a passkey, and Bitget recommends the app and the passkey over SMS (Bitget). The authenticator also comes first: Bitget won't let you add a passkey or a trading PIN code without it. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. The steps are the same in other authenticator apps.
How we checked this guide: the Bitget steps come from Bitget's own Support Center articles and its Bitget Academy guide for new users, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. The articles are dated December 2024 to April 2025. We haven't tested them on a Bitget account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
On the Bitget website
These steps combine Bitget's website guide and its Academy guide (Bitget, Bitget):
- Sign in and open the Security page.
- Click Configure under Google Authenticator.
- Bitget shows a QR code and a key. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen.
- If the QR code won't scan, copy the key. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, and paste it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Type the 6-digit code from Novaz into Bitget and click Submit.
- Bitget then emails you a second code. Click Send, enter it within 10 minutes, and click Confirm.
If you've set a Fund code, Bitget may ask for it too, since it confirms 2FA changes with it (Bitget).
In the Bitget app on your iPhone
Here the QR code is on the phone that runs Novaz, so the key is easier (Bitget, Bitget):
- Tap the Account Center icon at the top left, then your profile.
- Tap Security, then Google Authenticator, then Next.
- Copy the setup key and add it in Novaz with Enter key manually, or screenshot the QR code and use Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Enter the 6-digit code from Novaz and tap Next.
- Enter the code Bitget emails you and tap Confirm.
Bitget's codes are 6 digits and change every 30 seconds (Bitget), which is what Novaz makes from a typed key.
Save the setup key: there are no backup codes
Bitget's setup guides offer no backup codes. Instead, they tell you to save the "backup key" (the setup key) offline (Bitget, Bitget). Bitget also warns against Google Authenticator's cloud sync, which could leak the key.
Novaz doesn't sync unless you turn on iCloud backup, which is end-to-end encrypted through iCloud Keychain. Without that or a backup file, its keys exist only on your iPhone, so that saved key is your backup. Keep it on paper or somewhere safe offline: anyone who has it can make your codes. More in 2FA backup codes.
When Bitget asks for a code
Bitget lists signing in, withdrawals, and sensitive changes such as your password or security settings (Bitget). Adding a passkey in the app asks for both the email code and the authenticator code (Bitget). Bitget doesn't say whether a familiar device skips the code.
If Bitget rejects your code
Bitget's advice is to type the newest code before it runs out, and to wait for the next one if that fails (Bitget). If that doesn't help, check the iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Moving to a new iPhone
If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead (moving to a new iPhone). Without one, set Bitget up again while the old phone still works (Bitget, Bitget):
- On the Security page, find Google Authenticator and click Edit on the website, or tap Change in the app.
- When asked whether your current authenticator is available, choose Yes and complete the checks.
- Scan the QR code on the Modify Google Authenticator page with the new iPhone.
- Type the code from the new entry, not the old one, and select Submit.
After any change, Bitget blocks withdrawals and P2P trading for 24 hours, so pick a day when you don't need to move funds.
If you lose your authenticator
If you saved the setup key, add it to Novaz on the new iPhone with Enter key manually and sign in as usual. Bitget names the key as your first way back (Bitget).
If you're still signed in to Bitget but the old authenticator is gone, start the change above and choose No. Then select Unbind Google Authenticator, click Confirm, finish the other checks Bitget asks for, and bind the new phone (Bitget).
If you can't sign in, use self-service recovery (Bitget):
- Open the Customer Support icon (bottom right on the website, top right in the app), find Self-service, and select Account recovery in the Account section.
- Enter your email or phone number and select Google Authenticator as the method you lost.
- Answer the questions, including your last sign-in and the reason, then select Continue.
- Upload the front and back of your ID or passport and a selfie holding it. A deposit record, as an MP4 video of up to 20 MB, is optional.
Most cases are reviewed within one business day. Losing two or more methods may mean a live video check and 3 to 5 business days. Withdrawals stay off for 24 hours afterwards. An older article calls the option Reset 2FA (Bitget). See also Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
Bitget's FAQ says you can turn the authenticator off but advises against it (Bitget). Its help doesn't give the steps.
