Your DCS World account on digitalcombatsimulator.com can be protected with an authenticator app. Most players turn it on for one reason: Eagle Dynamics requires it for free trials. To use a trial license, two-factor authentication has to be on in your user profile (Eagle Dynamics). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Eagle Dynamics' screens name Google Authenticator, but its FAQ says other apps work too.

How we checked this guide: the steps come from Eagle Dynamics' FAQ and site, which we read on October 12, 2026, and from posts by Eagle Dynamics staff on the official DCS forum, which we read in archived copies because the forum blocks automated access. The FAQ's screenshots are from 2021 to 2023, so today's labels may differ slightly. We haven't tested this on a DCS account. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

What 2FA protects on DCS

According to Eagle Dynamics staff on the forum, you won't be asked for a code to play: the game keeps you signed in. The code is for the website, for account changes such as your password, and for free trials. The DCS forum uses a separate account, with its own two-factor setting.

Turn on 2FA

Eagle Dynamics' FAQ describes these steps (Eagle Dynamics):

  1. On digitalcombatsimulator.com, sign in with Login at the top right, then open Profile.
  2. In your personal information, find the 2FA authentication line and choose enable. A panel called Extra security options opens.
  3. Under Scan QR code, Eagle Dynamics shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  4. If you can't scan it, use Enter code manually, which shows the key, marked as time-based. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, and type it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  5. Under Enter confirmation code, type the code from Novaz and choose Done.
  6. When you see that two-factor authentication was activated, choose Recovery codes and save them somewhere safe, away from your phone.

Missed the recovery codes? The FAQ says you can get them later: choose reconfigure on the 2FA authentication line, then Recovery codes.

Signing in afterwards

On the website, a Verification Required window asks for the code from your app. The FAQ says it accepts either an authenticator code or a recovery code. Recovery codes are eight characters separated by a hyphen. Trial licenses ask for a code in the same way.

If your code is rejected

Eagle Dynamics' FAQ doesn't cover rejected codes. Check these first:

  • The right entry. If you also turned on 2FA for the DCS forum, or have more than one DCS account, your app has more than one DCS entry. Use the one for the site you're signing in to.
  • Your iPhone's clock. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when your clock is 15 seconds or more off.

Changing phones

Eagle Dynamics doesn't describe moving to a new phone. Its FAQ shows that reconfigure displays a new QR code and key. If you use it to set up your new phone, check that a code from the new phone works before you remove the old entry. If you use iCloud backup or a backup file in Novaz, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead and keep the same entry. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Sign in with one of your recovery codes. Without them, contact Eagle Dynamics support. The support ticket system needs you to be signed in, so if you're locked out, email support@digitalcombatsimulator.com (Eagle Dynamics) from the email address on your DCS account. Include anything that shows the account is yours, such as serial numbers or order dates. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

The 2FA authentication line in your profile has a disable option. Eagle Dynamics doesn't describe the steps. Without two-factor authentication, you can't request free trials.
