Your GetResponse account holds your email lists, newsletters and automations, and two-factor authentication (2FA) on it isn't optional. Since December 7, 2023, every GetResponse account and sub-account must keep at least one 2FA method on (GetResponse). If you never chose one, you're using email codes, because email is the default.

You can add three other methods: an authenticator app, the GetResponse mobile app, or text messages. This guide covers the authenticator app, using Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the GetResponse steps come from GetResponse's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on a GetResponse account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

GetResponse's help center gives these steps (GetResponse):

  1. Sign in to GetResponse on a computer and open the profile icon in the upper right corner of the dashboard.
  2. Select Manage account.
  3. Open the Two-factor authentication tab.
  4. Click the switch next to Authenticator app verification.
  5. GetResponse shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. If you can't scan it, GetResponse lets you enter the code manually instead. Its help doesn't name that text key. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, type a name such as GetResponse under Service, and paste the key into Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  7. Type the 6-digit code from Novaz into GetResponse.
  8. Save the backup code GetResponse gives you, then click Complete setup.

Make the authenticator your primary method

Turning on the authenticator doesn't stop the email codes by itself. GetResponse treats one method as primary and the rest as backups, and email stays the default until you pick another. Change it in the selection box on the same Two-factor authentication tab (GetResponse). Email can stay on as a backup. Text messages are also offered, but they're weaker than an app: see Authenticator app vs SMS.

Your backup code

GetResponse's help talks about a single backup code, not a list, and you can type it at sign-in instead of a 2FA code (GetResponse). If the phone is gone and you have no Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file) with GetResponse in it, this code is your way back in. Keep it in a password manager or on paper. If you use it up or lose it, get a new one: on the Two-factor authentication tab, click Reset up, go through the setup steps again, and copy the new backup code. More on storing them in 2FA backup codes.

When GetResponse asks for a code

GetResponse asks for 2FA when you sign in from a device it doesn't recognize. After your email address and password at the login page, you give a code from your primary method or your backup code, then click Submit (GetResponse).

Tick Remember this device and don't ask again there to skip the code on that device. GetResponse drops each trusted device automatically 30 days after you add it, so expect a code about once a month. The list of trusted devices is further down the Two-factor authentication tab (GetResponse).

If GetResponse rejects your code

GetResponse's help doesn't cover rejected codes. Check the iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when it's 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

GetResponse doesn't describe moving the authenticator to a new phone. Going by its rule that only a non-primary method can be turned off, make email primary, turn off Authenticator app verification, then turn it back on and scan the new QR code with the new phone, while you still have the old one.

If you use Novaz's iCloud backup or keep a backup file, you can skip that and restore your accounts on the new iPhone with Restore from iCloud or Import from file…. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

First try another method you've set up, such as email. If you can't, use your backup code. Without the backup code, GetResponse says to contact its Support team, who can generate a new backup code for you (GetResponse). Its help doesn't say what proof Support asks for or how long it takes.

If you're a team member on someone else's account, the owner can make you a new backup code: profile icon, Team, Manage users, then Generate backup code in the action menu next to your name.

Turning the authenticator off

Click the switch next to the method on the Two-factor authentication tab, then Yes, disable it. You can't turn off 2FA completely, and you can't turn off your primary method until you've made another one primary (GetResponse). Once GetResponse is off the authenticator, remove it from Novaz: open the account and tap Remove account.
