SpectroCoin is a crypto wallet and exchange with IBAN accounts and a debit card. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is already on when you open an account: SpectroCoin sends codes by email until you pick another method (SpectroCoin). The codes protect transactions and profile changes. Asking for a code at sign-in is a second, separate setting that you turn on yourself.

The authenticator option appears in SpectroCoin's list as Google Authenticator. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way, but SpectroCoin's pages only name Google's.

How we checked this guide: the SpectroCoin steps come from SpectroCoin's own help center and official blog, linked below, which we read on October 22, 2026. We haven't tested them on a SpectroCoin account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Before you start

  • Account verification matters. SpectroCoin says fully verified users can choose from four methods: SMS, Email, Google Authenticator and the SpectroCoin app. If you have an active SpectroCoin debit card, the list shrinks to SMS or the SpectroCoin app, so an authenticator app isn't offered (SpectroCoin).
  • EU and EEA customers: Spectro Finance OÜ, the company behind SpectroCoin in the EU and EEA, has stopped offering crypto services there. It asks those customers to withdraw their assets by November 11, 2026, when full access will be restricted; customers of other SpectroCoin companies aren't affected (SpectroCoin). If you're withdrawing, keep your current 2FA method working until you're done.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

The current help article describes these steps (SpectroCoin):

  1. Sign in, select the profile icon in the upper right corner, and choose Profile.
  2. Select Security on the left side of the screen.
  3. Scroll to Two-factor authentication options and choose Google Authenticator.
  4. Select Update 2FA Method and follow the instructions on screen.

SpectroCoin's pages don't say whether the next screen shows a QR code, a text key, or both. To add either to Novaz:

  • QR code: in Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  • Text key: tap +, then Enter key manually. Type SpectroCoin as the Service, your email as the Account if you like, and the key as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?

Then type the code Novaz shows when SpectroCoin asks for one.

Ask for a code at sign-in too

Changing the method alone covers transactions and profile updates. To get asked for a code when you sign in, go back to Profile > Security, scroll to Login permissions, choose the option to enable and follow the instructions (SpectroCoin).

SpectroCoin's 2018 blog post shows an older layout: Settings, Edit, a checkbox labeled Enable second-factor authentication on login, then Update Profile (SpectroCoin). The help center is newer, so follow its labels if the two differ.

When SpectroCoin asks for a code

With the sign-in option on, you need a code each time you sign in. Sending a transaction or changing your profile also needs one, whether or not sign-in codes are on (SpectroCoin).

No backup codes, and no full off switch

SpectroCoin's pages don't mention backup or recovery codes. Your fallback is the other methods in the list and SpectroCoin support, so make sure you can still get into the email address on your account.

You can turn sign-in codes on and off under Login permissions, but SpectroCoin says "2FA cannot be fully disabled" (SpectroCoin). Transactions and debit card actions such as a PIN change always need a code.

If SpectroCoin rejects your code

SpectroCoin's help doesn't cover rejected authenticator codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

SpectroCoin doesn't document a phone change. Since you can change the method yourself under Two-factor authentication options, one route is to switch to email while you still have the old phone, then back to Google Authenticator on the new one. With Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, you can skip this and restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Contact SpectroCoin support through live chat on spectrocoin.com or in the SpectroCoin app, by email at helpdesk@spectrocoin.com, or with a ticket in the Help Centre (SpectroCoin). Support can change your 2FA method after a verification check. SpectroCoin asks for (SpectroCoin):

  • a photo of your passport or ID card, and
  • a selfie of you holding that same document, with no personal details covered or blurred.

SpectroCoin doesn't say how long this takes. If you've also lost access to your email, the email can't be changed: support can switch you to another 2FA method you still have, or move your funds to a new, verified account (SpectroCoin).

If someone else got into your account, the process is stricter: a live photo session with your ID and, once that passes, a video call with a KYC specialist (SpectroCoin). More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
