Telzio 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

On this page
Telzio is a cloud phone system for businesses: calls, texts, fax, voicemail and call queues, run from the Telzio Dashboard and the Telzio mobile app. Each person on a company's Telzio account has their own user, and each user turns on two-factor authentication (2FA) for themselves in their own settings. Telzio strongly recommends it but its help doesn't describe a switch that forces it on everyone. What admins get is a way to see who has it on (Telzio).
The method Telzio documents is a code from an authenticator app, or from a hardware key such as a YubiKey. Its help doesn't mention text-message codes (Telzio). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way, even though Telzio's pages name Google Authenticator.
How we checked this guide: the Telzio steps come from Telzio's own support pages, linked below, which we read on October 22, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Telzio account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
You do this in the Telzio Dashboard in a web browser. Telzio's 2FA article gives these steps (Telzio):
- Sign in to the Dashboard. In the top-right corner, click your name, then User Settings.
- Scroll to the Two-Factor Authentication section at the bottom of the page.
- Click Activate Now. Telzio shows a QR code.
- In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If you're looking at the Dashboard on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the code Novaz shows into Telzio and click Activate.
- Save the ten Backup Codes Telzio gives you (more below).
Telzio's help doesn't mention a text key to type instead of scanning, and doesn't say how many digits its codes have or how often they change. Plan on scanning the QR code: it carries the code settings to Novaz. If you do find a key on the screen, you can add it with + > Enter key manually, but a typed key always gets 6-digit, 30-second codes. See What is a 2FA setup key?
Telzio's getting-started guide for the Dashboard describes the same setting with different labels: you toggle Two-Factor Authentication to ON, click Save Changes to get the QR code, then confirm with Enable Two-Factor Authentication (Telzio). Neither page is dated, so go by what your screen shows.
Keep the ten backup codes
Once 2FA is on, Telzio gives you ten backup codes and suggests printing them and keeping them somewhere secure. A backup code gets you in when you no longer have your authenticator app or YubiKey (Telzio).
Novaz's keys stay on your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file, so without one, a lost or reset phone takes the Telzio codes with it. Even with a backup, these codes get you in if it's out of date. Store the backup codes on paper or in a password manager, not only on that phone. See 2FA backup codes.
What your admin sees
On the Users page, Telzio admins see a lock icon next to each user. Grey means that user hasn't turned on 2FA; blue means they have (Telzio). Telzio notes that some companies make 2FA part of their security policy and use this view to check it. If your admin asks you to turn it on, the steps above are what they mean.
If your company signs you in to Telzio with Microsoft Entra ID, you start from Microsoft's My Apps page instead of the Telzio website (Telzio). Telzio's help doesn't say whether its own 2FA also applies to that kind of sign-in.
When Telzio asks for a code
Telzio's help doesn't say whether it asks at every sign-in or only on new devices, and doesn't say whether the mobile app asks for a code. Keep Novaz handy the first few times you sign in after turning 2FA on.
If Telzio rejects your code
Telzio's pages give no troubleshooting advice for codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
Telzio doesn't describe moving 2FA to a new phone, and its help doesn't cover turning 2FA off. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, restore it on the new iPhone and your Telzio codes carry over. Without one, you add Telzio again from a fresh QR code. If your settings don't offer a way to set it up again, keep a backup code ready and ask Telzio support before you wipe the old phone. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
Sign in with one of your ten backup codes. Telzio's help doesn't describe what happens without them. An admin on your account can reset your password from the Users page (Telzio), but Telzio doesn't say that admins can clear a user's 2FA. The route left is Telzio support, which its support page lists as support@telzio.com, along with phone numbers (Telzio). Telzio doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long it takes.
