Time4VPS is a Lithuanian VPS host, and your Time4VPS account is the client area where you order and pay for servers, domains and add-ons. Two-factor authentication (2FA) isn't optional there. Time4VPS says it decided to turn 2FA on for all new and existing clients because of rising cyberattacks, so after you log in you're asked to pick a method: an authenticator app or one-time codes sent by email (Time4VPS). This guide covers the authenticator app option. The steps use Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Time4VPS steps come from Time4VPS's own knowledge base, linked below. Its website blocks automated access, so we read archived copies of those pages on web.archive.org (captured October 10, 2025, with the articles last updated in March 2025) on October 21, 2026. The screenshots on those pages weren't archived, so we only had the article text. We haven't tested the steps on a Time4VPS account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

The choice you get at login

Time4VPS doesn't send you looking for a setting. The prompt appears by itself after you log in, and it offers two methods (Time4VPS):

  • Google Authenticator, which is the authenticator app method. Despite the name, you aren't tied to Google's app: Time4VPS points you to the suggested apps listed on the setup screen, and the screen gives you a standard QR code and key.
  • Email, where you press Send one-time code via Email and type the code that arrives in your inbox.

The help article describes picking one of the two. It doesn't say whether you can set up both, or switch from email to an app later.

Set up the authenticator app

  1. Log in to your Time4VPS client area. The 2FA prompt appears once you are in.
  2. Choose the Google Authenticator method.
  3. Time4VPS shows a QR code and, with it, a text key that it calls the token.
  4. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the QR code. If you're setting this up on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, then tap + and Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  5. If scanning doesn't work, copy the token instead. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually. Type "Time4VPS" as the Service, your email as the Account if you like, and the token as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  6. Back on Time4VPS, enter the one-time code that Novaz shows to finish the setup.

Time4VPS's article doesn't say how many digits its codes have or how often they change. Scanning the QR code is the safer route, since the code carries those settings to Novaz. A key typed by hand always gives 6-digit codes every 30 seconds.

No backup codes are documented

The Time4VPS pages don't mention backup or recovery codes. Your fallback is the support team, who work through the email address on your account (see below). Novaz's keys exist only on that iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or keep a backup file, so make sure you can always get into that mailbox. It's also the inbox the email method sends codes to. For general advice, see 2FA backup codes.

When Time4VPS asks for a code

The help article only describes the first setup after login. It doesn't say whether Time4VPS asks for a code at every login, only on new devices, or before sensitive actions such as payments.

If Time4VPS rejects your code

Time4VPS doesn't give its own troubleshooting steps for wrong codes. Its article says to contact support by Live Chat or email if you run into problems during setup (Time4VPS). Before you do, check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Lost your phone or switching to a new one

Time4VPS documents one route for all of these: support turns 2FA off for you. Send an email from the email address registered on your account to support@time4vps.com, and a support agent (Time4VPS calls them its Human Assistant) can disable 2FA (Time4VPS). The page doesn't list other proof, and doesn't say how long it takes.

Two things follow from that. First, your mailbox is effectively your recovery key, so protect it well. Second, Time4VPS's pages don't explain what happens at your next login after the reset. Since 2FA is on for all clients, expect to pick a method again and add Time4VPS to your new phone then.

With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on a new iPhone instead; without one, you set the account up again there. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone and Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Removing the old entry

Once Time4VPS has reset your 2FA and you've set it up again, remove the old entry from Novaz so you don't mix them up: open it and tap Remove account.
