WEDOS is the Czech company behind the web hosting, domains, mailhosting and VPS services that, since February 2025, carry the brand VEDOS (VEDOS). The customer administration where you manage those services still lives at client.wedos.com, and its sign-in can be protected with a 6-digit one-time password. VEDOS calls this OTP, and it calls the app that makes the codes a "keychain". The knowledge base presents OTP as an optional extra. The other extra check VEDOS offers is a confirmation link sent by email at sign-in (VEDOS).

VEDOS's help doesn't mention backup codes. If you lose the app, you get back in with the email address and mobile number on your account, so the knowledge base asks you to make sure both are current before you turn OTP on (VEDOS).

This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the VEDOS steps come from VEDOS's own knowledge base, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026, in both the Czech original and the English version. VEDOS says its English articles are machine-translated from Czech, so the English labels below may not match your screen exactly. We haven't tested them on a VEDOS account. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

These are the steps from the knowledge base. The Czech names, which your administration may show, are in brackets (VEDOS, VEDOS):

  1. Sign in to the customer administration at client.wedos.com.
  2. In the top menu, choose My account (Můj účet), then Customer (Zákazník).
  3. In the left menu, choose Account Security (Zabezpečení účtu).
  4. In the Two-factor authentication (OTP) box (Dvou-faktorová autentizace (OTP)), click Set up OTP (Nastavit OTP).
  5. VEDOS shows a QR code and a text key it calls the shared key (sdílený klíč). In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If the page is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo (how that works).
  6. If you'd rather type the key, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz. Fill in Service (for example, VEDOS) and Account if you like, and paste the shared key into Setup key. VEDOS codes are 6 digits and change every 30 seconds, which is what Novaz uses for typed keys. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  7. Back in the administration, enter your customer account password and the current 6-digit code from Novaz.
  8. Click Activate (Aktivovat).

The next time you sign in, VEDOS asks for an OTP code after your password.

If the activation fails, for example because you mistyped the password, VEDOS's advice is to delete the entry from your authenticator app and start over. Each new attempt makes a new shared key and voids the old one.

A second device instead of backup codes

The knowledge base doesn't mention backup or recovery codes. What it suggests is adding the same shared key to more than one device during setup, so one can stand in if another breaks or goes missing (VEDOS).

Novaz's keys stay on your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file, either of which you can restore on another iPhone. For a spare device, scan the QR code with a second device's authenticator app at step 5, before you click Activate. Without any of these, your account's email and phone number are your fallback. More on why that matters in 2FA backup codes.

If VEDOS rejects your code

The knowledge base only covers codes that fail during setup (above). For codes that stop working later, check your iPhone's clock first: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

If you lose your authenticator

VEDOS has a self-service reset that uses your email and phone (VEDOS):

  1. Enter your login name and password at the customer administration.
  2. On the next screen, click I lost my OTP keychain (Ztratil jsem OTP klíčenku).
  3. Open the email titled "WEDOS Internet – OTP keychain deactivation" from wedos@wedos.com. Its link only works for 5 minutes, so open it straight away.
  4. On the page the link opens, click send SMS (zaslat SMS), type the Verification SMS code from the text message, complete the robot check and click submit.

OTP is then off, and you can sign in with your password and set it up again.

If you no longer have the email address or the phone number, send VEDOS a request through its contact form. Give the login email of the account and say you want OTP deactivated. VEDOS says its authorization department usually sorts out the next steps within one business day. See also Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Changing phones

The knowledge base doesn't cover a new phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, restore it on the new iPhone and your codes carry on. Without one, turn OTP off while you still have the old phone and set it up again on the new one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

Turning 2FA off

While you can sign in, go to Account Security the same way as for setup, and in the Two-factor authentication (OTP) box click Deactivate (Deaktivovat) (VEDOS). Then remove the entry from Novaz: open it and tap Remove account.
