Automater 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

On this page
Automater is a seller tool: it sends digital goods such as game keys, license codes and files to buyers automatically after a sale on Allegro, eBay or your own online shop. If you sell through it, your Automater account holds your code databases and store connections, so it's worth protecting. Automater's home page says accounts are secured with two-factor authentication (2FA), so a stolen password alone shouldn't get anyone in (Automater). The only method its help describes is a code from an authenticator app, set up with a QR code. Turning it on is your choice; nothing in Automater's pages says it's required.
This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Automater steps come from Automater's own help article on 2FA, linked below, which we read on October 24, 2026. On that day the whole help center (help.automater.com and the Polish pomoc.automater.pl) showed a "page not found" message for every page, while Automater's main site and sign-in page were still working. So we read the article in archived copies on web.archive.org: the English version as saved on February 16, 2026, and the Polish one as saved on January 17, 2026. The article itself was last edited in August 2019, so Automater's screens may have changed and a label may differ. We haven't tested any of this on an Automater account. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
The article gives these steps (Automater):
- Sign in to your Automater account.
- Open Settings, then 2FA Authorization. In the Polish interface this is Ustawienia / Autoryzacja 2FA (Automater).
- Automater shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If you have Automater open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot first, then tap + and Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Novaz adds the account and starts showing codes. Type the current one into the field Enter the generated code from the application (Polish: Podaj wygenerowany kod z aplikacji).
- Press Activate 2FA (Polish: Aktywuj 2FA).
The article names Google Authenticator as an example, but any app that reads a QR code is fine.
No text key in the instructions
Automater's article only talks about scanning the QR code. It doesn't mention a key you can type by hand, and it doesn't say how many digits its codes have or how often they change. Scan the code rather than looking for a workaround: the QR code carries those settings to Novaz. If your screen does turn out to show a text key, you can add it with +, then Enter key manually, typing it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
When Automater asks for a code
Once 2FA is active, the article says Automater asks for the code from your app each time you sign in (Automater). It doesn't mention trusted devices or a way to skip the prompt.
What the article leaves out
The help article is short, and several things you'd expect are missing from it:
- Backup codes. It doesn't mention any. If Automater shows recovery codes during setup, save them somewhere other than your phone. If it doesn't, the iPhone with Novaz is the only place your codes come from, unless you've made a Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file). More in 2FA backup codes.
- Turning 2FA off. Not described.
- Changing phones. Not described. The safe order is to switch while you still have the old phone and can sign in. With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore Automater on the new iPhone; without one, you'll set it up again there. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
- Recovery. Not described either (see the last section).
If Automater rejects your code
Automater's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The most common cause is the iPhone's clock. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Make sure you're typing the code under the Automater entry in Novaz, and type it before it changes. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?
If you lose your authenticator
Automater doesn't publish a recovery process for a lost authenticator. Its contact page lists the company behind the service (Sensato OÜ, in Tallinn, Estonia), an email address and a contact form (Automater). That page is mostly written for buyers: it tells people with code problems to go to the seller and says their form messages won't be answered. It says nothing about locked-out sellers, what proof Automater might want, or how long a reset takes. If you get locked out, writing to the email address on that page from the address on your account is the only route we can point to.
Because of that, set up 2FA only when you're sure you'll keep the phone, and keep any recovery codes Automater gives you. See Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
