Audiense is the audience research platform behind Audiense Insights and Audiense Connect, the X (Twitter) marketing tool. You sign in to it with an email address and a password, and you can add an authenticator app as a second step. Audiense calls this two-factor authentication (2FA). It's optional, and the authenticator app is the only second step its help center describes (Audiense).

Setup has one step you may not expect: Audiense emails you a confirmation link before it shows the QR code, so keep your inbox open. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Audiense steps come from Audiense's own help center, including the screenshots in its two-factor article, which we read on October 22, 2026. We haven't tested them on an Audiense account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

Audiense describes these steps (Audiense):

  1. Sign in to Audiense on a computer. Click the cogwheel icon at the right end of the top menu bar to open Settings.
  2. Open the Security tab and click Enable 2FA.
  3. Audiense sends an email to the address on your account and shows a Complete the process box. If the email doesn't arrive, that box has a Resend email button.
  4. Open the email and click Activate 2FA authentication.
  5. A Scan QR code page opens. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If the page is open on your iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. Type the code Novaz shows into Enter authentication code and click Verify.
  7. Go back to Audiense. The Security tab now shows a check mark next to Two-factor authentication.

Audiense's screenshot of the QR page also shows a Trouble Scanning? link, but the article doesn't say what it opens, and it doesn't mention a text key. Its help also doesn't say how many digits the codes have or how often they change. So scan the QR code rather than typing anything by hand: the code carries the settings your app needs.

Signing in afterwards

Sign in at dashboard.audiense.com with your email address and password, then click Continue. A Two-factor authentication panel asks for the code from your app. Type the current code from Novaz and click Verify (Audiense).

The panel in Audiense's screenshot has a Remember this device for 30 days box. If you tick it, you shouldn't need a code on that browser for a while. The article doesn't explain the option beyond its label.

Backup codes are unclear

Audiense's setup steps don't mention backup or recovery codes, and the screenshots don't show any. The article's recovery note does refer to "recovery codes", without saying where you'd get them (Audiense). If Audiense offers you codes during setup, save them somewhere other than your phone. If your phone is lost and you have no Novaz backup, codes like these would be your way back in. See 2FA backup codes.

If Audiense rejects your code

Audiense's help doesn't cover rejected codes. Most of the time the iPhone's clock is off. On your iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Also make sure you're typing the newest code, not one that's about to expire. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Audiense doesn't describe a way to move 2FA to a new phone. What it does describe is turning 2FA off and on again (below), and you can do that only while you can still sign in. So do it before you give up the old iPhone: turn 2FA off, then turn it on again and scan the new QR code with the new phone. With Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead, and the codes keep working. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

If you've lost your phone or the app, and you don't have recovery codes, Audiense support can turn 2FA off for you. Email help@audiense.com. Audiense asks you to prove who you are with a photo of an identity card or a similar document, and says this protects you against someone pretending to be you (Audiense). It doesn't say how long this takes.

For what to do first, see Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

Open Settings with the cogwheel icon, go to the Security tab and click Disable 2FA. You can turn it on again later by repeating the setup, email step included (Audiense). Then remove Audiense from Novaz: open the account and tap Remove account.
